What are dermal fillers?

How long do dermal fillers last?

Dermal fillers last between six to eighteen months according to the product used and the depth at which the dermal fillers are placed . Face Value currently restrains from using permanent dermal fillers due to the fact that although generally safe if complications do arise they sadly are often more prolonged and hence more traumatic.

Are there any side effects from dermal fillers?

The most common side effect from dermal fillers is temporary discomfort and possible bruising and swelling. It is advised that you don't exercise immediately before and after your dermal filler treatment and avoid aspirin or anti-inflammatories for two weeks before treatment to minimise the occurrence of bruising. Although it is very unusual with temporary dermal fillers to have problems after the first two days, it is rare but still possible to have an allergy to the product develop . In the unlikely event of residual lumps or an over correction of a wrinkle fold or lip, Face Value can use hylase to dissolve quickly the excess dermal fillers and correct the problem.

Are dermal fillers painful?

When it comes to dermal fillers, here at Face Value we take time to assess appropriate pain relief if any is needed at the time of dermal filler work. It is not uncommon for clients not to need any local anaesthesia for dermal filler work however in the area of the lip we use local nerve blocks (like that of your dentist), prudent use of ice, and for other areas often topical anaesthetic creams can be applied for 30 minutes prior to the procedure of dermal fillers.
