The LightSheer laser hair removal system successfully removes unwanted hair from problem areas including:

  • Laser hair removal for the the face – particularly the upper lip and chin

How does it work?

During the laser hair removal procedure, laser pulses for a fraction of a second, laser light is absorbed by melanin in the hair shaft, damaging the follicular epithelium thus destroying or significantly reducing the hair’s ability to grow.

Is laser hair removal safe on darker skinned clients?

  • The LightSheer laser hair removal system can be used on most skin types but work most effectively on lighter skin which is untanned.
  • The LightSheer laser hair removal system is significantly quicker than most lasers and all IPL treatments, meaning quicker treatment times and less cost.

What hair colours can be treated with laser hair removal?

As long as there is pigment in the hair shaft to bulb, the hair can be treated with laser hair removal. Unfortunately white, blonde or very light brown hairs, not having much pigment, can not be treated. Vellus hair (fine fluffy hair) usually found on the face can also not be treated wtih laser hair removal.

What happens to the hairs?

At the time of laser hair removal treatment a large percentage of the hairs will be forcibly expelled and a number fall out in the next day or two. The remainder of damaged hairs tend to gradually work their way up, appearing to still be growing, until about week two to three when suddenly they all seem to disappear.

How many laser hair removal treatments are required?

Because all hairs are at different phases of growth at any one time, more than one laser hair removal treatment will be required to remove all hairs. Most patients find around eight laser hair removal sessions are necessary, however this may vary depending on the area being treated and how fine or coarse the hair is (the coarser and darker the hair, the easier it is to remove with laser hair removal).

Does laser hair removal treatment hurt?

Cooling devices on the tip of the laser hair removal system head cool the skin on contact, protecting the skin while directing the laser energy to the hair follicle. The sensation is often described by clients as a light electric shock or pinprick sensations. These sensations from laser hair removal vary in intensity depending on the area treated. Laser hair removal patients will also be offered an anaesthetic (numbing) cream to increase comfort. Recovery is rapid and patients may return to normal activity within 15-30 minutes after treatment.

Are there any side effects or risks from laser hair removal?

There are always side effects and risks involved with laser hair removal treatments so we have an indepth consultation process which clients complete to make sure they are aware of the effects. There are many medications and medical problems which may prevent a client from having LightSheer laser hair removal treatment. We provide a free consultation to discuss all these matters fully.
