Platelet Rich Plasma Rejuvenation Therapy (PRP)

Platelet Rich Plasma Skin Rejuvenation is a simple, safe, non-surgical procedure utilising your own cells and chemistry to improve skin texture, thickness and luminosity

Platelet Rich Plasma uses the healing properties of your own platelets, taken from a small sample of your blood, which contains over 300 active growth factors. Studies have proven the body’s natural healing process is activated when PRP is added to a treatment area, releasing specific proteins that effectively stimulate cellular rejuvenation and improve the skins texture and elasticity. It is ideal for treating thin crepey skin, especially around the eyes, neck, décolletage, full face and hands.

The treatment is performed by our registered nurse who is fully trained and experienced in this technique. A course of 3 treatments is recommended with additional maintenance treatments every 6 - 12 months.

Combination Treatment: Hyaluronic Acid + Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Another treatment option available at Face Value is the combination of Platelet Rich Plasma and Hyaluronic Acid.

As we age, the concentration of hyaluronic acid in the skin decreases which results in reduced dermal hydration and an acceleration of skin ageing. The combination  treatments will provide your skin with immediate hydration from the hyaluronic acid. In the months following your treatment, the growth factors that are released from the platelets will have stimulated new collagen to rejuvenate the skin, improving elasticity, tone, texture, thickness and overall appearance.

FAQ

Is PRP safe?

These treatments are very safe because we are using the healing parts of your own blood, so there is no chance of an allergic reaction or serious side-effects. Swelling and redness of the treated areas is common especially around the eyes, although usually only for 24 - 48 hours. Some light bruising may occur.

What is the process of facial rejuvenation with PRP?

During your initial consultation, a medical history will be taken and you will complete a consent form. Prior to treatment a blood sample is extracted, which is then placed in a centrifuge for around 10 minutes. When centrifugation is complete your platelets and plasma will be separated from your blood cells with the concentration of platelets remaining being 10 times that of normal blood. The proteins, growth factors that the platelets contain help the body’s self-healing process. These platelets are extracted and injected into your skin using a small needle.

In the case of combination treatments, the process is very similar and we will add hyaluronic acid to the PRP before injecting into the skin. This procedure is performed within approximately an hour. There may be mild discomfort, but with the use of a topical anaesthetic this is minimal.

When will the results of a PRP treatment show?

Results may not be immediately visible. Over 3 months the PRP stimulation will gradually improve the texture and tone of your skin, strengthening dermal integrity and boosting skin health. This improvement will continue over the following months.

You will see more immediate hydrating results with the addition of the Hyaluronic Acid. Over the following 3 months you will also experience the rejuvenating benefits caused by the growth factors in the PRP.
